- Election Finalization points – NC and NW both had elections for Regional Director. Tim Cooper won in the Northwest over Gordon Wilhelm. Toby Silhavy won in the North Central over Aaron Schrader.
- IMAC document changes prior to January 1 – This item was presented at last meeting for the BOD to individually review the current IMAC Documents be reviewed for any changes that may be needed prior to January 1st, 2023, and all agreed our current IMAC documents were still current and valid with no changes needed. For 2023 we have asked the Rules committee for Scale RC Aerobatics to clarify the rule regard section 3.1 to ensure that non-IAC type aircraft are allowed i.e., pattern aircraft.
Post BOD meeting update: This rule went to the committee for a clarification vote on 18 October after the BOD meeting.

SE – No report
NC – No report
NW – We had our regional finals, 12 total pilots. The weather was great. all had a good time. Small controversy as the intermediate winner in the regional points final had two contest un apposed and only flew against two pilots all year. The decision was to award first based on the IMAC rule book. Tim Cooper won the election for the next NWRD
EU – In Europe, despite the war and a growing inflation rate, we are experiencing a positive comeback of energy versus IMAC. It seems that, after the compulsory Covid stop, the willingness to go back to a normal life and flying habits is really strong. The year ended normally in all countries. The new year is almost completely designed. We organized the first edition of the Europeans in Poland, and the Euro Cup has already five Open Competitions lined up, while another two or three are under design.
SC – We have 2 more contests coming up. The Bato Rouge - Bayou Bash IMAC is scheduled for Oct 29th and 30th. Also, the Regional Finals are scheduled for Abilene the following week. The awards are purchased and will be given to the new RD, Tim Hughes, who will distribute the awards at the finals. We have the majority of next year’s contests preliminarily scheduled, waiting for the final Nat’s dates. Danny Powell has spearheaded this and gotten most dates put together.
SW- As we approach the holidays and the Southwest Regional finals are right around the corner, I wanted to take a minute to recap the 2022 season and acknowledge some of the key participants that make the 2022 season possible.
A big thanks to the RC clubs and BOD’s that hosted contests in 2022... Hemet Model Masters, Desert Hawks RC Club, Chino Valley Flyers, Riverside RC Club, Florence Aero Modelers club, the Remote Possibilities RC Club and the Tucson Radio Control club.
A note of thanks to the Contest Directors and assistants that administrated the contests... Kim Quenette, AJ Jaffe, Dave White, Mark Dennis, Mike Hicks, Kevin Garland, Mike Croft, Dale Grant and so many others.
The pilots and their families that participated
Not counting our regional finals and the Nat’s... we staged 16 contests in 2022. We average 15 pilots per contest with a high of 21 pilots and a low of 7 pilots. We added St. George Utah (Remote Possibilities RC Club) back to the Southwest calendar and we picked up Kim Quenette as a contest director. AJ Jaffe was able to add a 2nd Bakersfield contest for the fall. Looking forward to the 2023 season with Kevin Garland leading the Southwest Region as the new Regional Director!
AP – No report
LA – There is refreshing news for the region this month: new contests are starting to sprout:
In October the 23rd IMAC Colombia held an IMAC Starters boot contest with a really good turn up. There’s a new coming IMAC Starters already scheduled for late November. In October the 28th Chile will hold the Aconcagua cup, which outweighs average contests due to the fact this is a binational contest which will feature the attendance of pilots from both Chile and Argentina. During November IMAC México will have its nationals in Querétaro. In other news, the Latin America BOD is working in a method to build from the ground a lineup of judges that are not pilots themselves to alleviate the extra workload that comes to pilots that are competing but also need to keep up with the extra chores for the contest.

Board of Director’s Meeting Minutes
Monday Aug 15, 2022
Attendees: Doug Pilcher, Alex Dreiling, Jim McCall, Rick Crow, Jacques Telles, Adi Kochav,
Brian Webb, Primo Rivera, Toby Silhavy, Michael Hobson. Oliver Soto, Dave Dupre, Michael Hobson
Absent: Amanda Darling, Manrico Mincuzzi
1. Expanding Memberships – Discussion centered on how we can expand our membership base. Adi related several ideas on how to make membership more desirable to those who are not members at this time. The desire is to gain more members. In certain countries we have fliers who participate in our events but are not members of IMAC. The thought is that we need to do all we can to increase participation at events and if we do the memberships will follow. We didn’t want to make membership mandatory to participate in IMAC events. Rick will create a letter that we will send to all participants in our events. This letter will outline benefits of membership and let folks know what we do and how it can help them.
2. Scoring System – Beta testing has started in the Southwest Region so we can get some real-world testing at events. A manual will be available that is being developed. We are working on a video that will outline the use of the software on iPad. The requirements for this are available easily and it uses Bluetooth technology. This is based on the SCORE system we presently use for our scoring, but potentially allows for entry by the judge without a scribe.
3. Website – We have had some recent movement on the website. Dan is continuing to work on the website.
4. General Discussion – IJS will be 28-29 Jan 2023 and a flyer will be forthcoming. Also, the BOD was asked to submit articles for the newsletter. Nominations for all officers will open Sept. 1, 2022, and close on 30 Sept with voting to commence 1 Oct 2022 and close at midnight 14 Oct 2022.

Board of Director’s Meeting Minutes
Monday July 18, 2022
Attendees: Doug Pilcher, Alex Dreiling, Jim McCall, Rick Crow, Jacques Telles, Adi Kochav,
Brian Webb, Toby Silhavy, Michael Hobson. Oliver Soto, Amanda Darling, Dave Dupre, Manrico Mincuzzi,
Absent: Michael Hobson, Primo Rivera
1. Argentina Issues – Oliver related that Argentina is experiencing some issues. This appears to be an issue of disagreeing over interpretation of rules and judging criteria. The BOD recommendation was to schedule a judging school as soon as possible. This will allow competitors to understand the criteria for judging.
2. 2023 IJS – We will do another Virtual IJS for 2023. Primo was unavailable but is working on a flyer for the upcoming IJS.
3. 2022 Nat’s - Amanda Darling 17 pilots were in attendance, and all had a great time. The weather was great for the contest. The team did am amazing job, and the contest was well executed by all members of the team. There was a fireworks display for all including AMA staff. Sponsors were well represented, and we will send thank you notes to them. Some sponsors are onboard for 2023 already.
4. 10% Rule – Primo was unavailable for this discussion. We may need to clarify these rules to address what it is that is allowed to be flown at a contest. It has come to our attention we have an extra clause that conflicts and may have been an oversight when the rule was written or changed in a previous rule cycle. We will need to address this in the next rules cycle.
5. General Discussion – Toby shared the Scorepad system is being tested in the North Central region. There is more testing needed but this looks promising. A sample will be made available in the near future.

NE – 3 contests in June including Canada. Lower numbers are being seen due to the cost of gas. 27th year of a contest in Maine with great weather and looking forward to more contest in the next couple of months. The regionals will be held in a central location this year.
SE – South East doing great, several contest done and a few more on the calendar. The SE vs SC has more SE guys sign up but Amanda is working on some other pilots. I will not cancel the event if we can't have enough pilots from both sides. The club is looking forward to having us there.NC – NATS was held in Muncie and Amanda did a great job. Our last contest had 19 pilots in attendance, and it was great fun. We will have more contests in Michigan where we hope to see our Canadian members. The automated score system seems to be a great success so far.
NW – We had two contests since last report. Othello and Red Deer, Alberta Canada. Attendance is down, 8 and 13. Still lacking new pilots. No other issues.
EU – Contests are being held and attendance is doing well. The war is not seeming to be affecting attendance currently. Pilots are coming back after covid.
SC – South Central is doing good the gas prices are keeping our numbers down but still getting out there and flying. Competitors are sharing rides to help with the cost of travel. 2 more contests in Kansas and we will have another SC vs SE contest.
SW- SW Region Report
We are into the Monsoon Season here in the Southwest. High temperatures and high humidity are par for the course.
We have 4 contests remaining then the Regional Finals November 12th and 13th in Lake Havasu. Rebel BBQ will again cater the Saturday evening pilot banquet.
AP – None Submitted by Michael:
LA – LA is not very active currently. Mexico is having some contests. Judging schools are being held and attended well.
